Is medicare part B insurance required if you are working and have group health insurance?
group health insurance? I was told Medicare is primary other group insurance is secondary. please give information I can understand and pass on to those 65 and older and the insurance representative. Thank you in advance.

My husband and I need private health insurance because his job does not offer it and I am a stay at home mother of our two year old son. We live in California, make about 2000.00 a month and are a family of three. We just need basic coverage so that if we get sick we can go to the doctor and if we have an emergency we can go to the hospital. Any recommendations for a low cost good plan that would suit us? There is dental available also, plus you have the guarantee of the great Costco membership to back you.~~

The purpose of any type of insurance is to protect against catastrophic loss. Using health insurance as an example, most everyday medical expenses are not very expensive (a physical exam averages $150.00+/-), but if you are admitted to the hospital for an emergency your medical bills would be in the tens of thousands of dollars at a minimum. If you do not have insurance you "self-insure" againts that potential catastrophic loss. Without insurance, the average person would face financial ruin if faced with a major loss.

I have a 36H and I would give anything to get a breast reduction, but I don\'t have the money for it. I have major back problems because of it, and I was wondering if health insurance covered that or not. I have PPO, blue cross, blue shield. Does anyone know??

The only way to find out is to call BCBS and ask them. Some policies will not cover it no matter what, even if the doctor says it\'s medically necessary. I have worked in health insurance for 8 years, and I have seen thousands of different types of policies. Other questions to ask:
Do I have a deductible?
What percentage am I responsible for when the deductible is met?
Is there an out of pocket maximum?
(An out of pocket max is the most you will have to pay for medical services for that particular year.)
Are the doctors and the hospital in the network?
What is the coverage for the radiologist, anesthesiologist, and/or pathologist if their services are required?
Is prior notification required?
